There are a million wax polishes on the market, but none have met our stringent needs for an all-purpose protective wax for wood and metal. Renaissance Wax is a trusted and popular choice that we've long praised, but it's costly and more firm during application than we prefer. This wax represents our current iteration in our attempts at blending the perfect polymer wax polish.
Comprised of a blend of microcrystalline paraffin for its good adhesion qualities, and high-grade polyethylene wax for its luster and high hardness (even harder than carnauba wax!), this wax polish provides a clear, hard, but flexible coating that buffs to a pleasant shine. The solvent base cleans while providing a cream-like consistency for easy application that penetrates the valleys of uneven or textured surfaces. Made of premium varnish maker's and painter's-grade (VM&P) naphtha for its low toxicity and rapid evaporation, now with the added power of α-Pinene (alpha pinene), a powerful terpenic hydrocarbon known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and commonly used as a cosmetics fragrance and flavoring compound. The α-Pinene has a slower evaporation rate than the naphtha, increasing the application window and holding the matrix of the wax open to ensure that all of the naphtha is able to evaporate off before the pinene also evaporates, leaving nothing but the wax behind. When the pleasant pine-like scent is no longer present you know the wax is fully cured and hardened. This can be accelerated with heat, but the finish present when the naphtha is evaporated is quite durable in its own right prior to fully curing.
Packaged in a 2 oz (~59ml) capacity screw top aluminum tin with an HDPE lid liner for an improved seal. This is our third test run of the blend we thought would provide the best results, and will be making adjustments to refine our ratios of wax and solvent in future test batches. If you purchased our Gen 1 or Gen 2 wax, this blend is a little firmer and higher in polyethylene wax content, with equal solvent to the Gen 1 wax, resulting in a firmer (but still quite soft) texture and harder resulting finish.
